A.K.I.N. THE SMILE OF KIDS IN PERALIYA
Message from Peraliya
English School to AKIN
The village Peraliya was badly hit by the catastrophic Tsunami on the 26th of December 2004 and the kids of the village lost all their belongings, some also lost their beloved parents. Various Organizations, charities and clubs came up with lots of aid in order to uplift the lives of these needy kids.
2 members of AKIN, Association for Kids In Need, Ruth Holsgrove and Sandy Leavy were in Sri Lanka since after the Tsunami and in November 2008 A.K.I.N. started their great charity work in Sri Lanka providing the kids of Peraliya area with a home of English. This project is a long term project which the kids get the opportunity of improving their English by weekly classes.
The charity provides the classes with funds to pay the rental of the house, to buy books and stationary for the kids, the salary of the teacher and for the maintenances of the house.
It started in November 2008 and now it is November 2009. A year has passed by. Throughout this whole year, this home of English has become a sweet home for the kids in Peraliya where they can practice their English and to have a really nice time with their friends as well. It has put a BIG SMILE on their faces.
We will not say ‘THANK YOU” to you because the great work that you are doing on behalf of these needy kids can not be appreciated by that word. We do pray for all of you in our daily prayers. All of you are in our thoughts always. Finally, we would say that you are the people who made us smile and…
