Details of the Project
AASHA KO KIRAN PROJECT
The school has been running for several years, currently has 48 children.
This project is going to go through important improvements in education in the next few months, thanks to the incorporation of the Montessori Method.
This training method is going to come to the hand of Edinburg Montessori School in Scotland; it offers proper training and volunteer teachers.
Vida Util has been supporting the majority of the children and the improvements of the building, it is very grateful to Service in Satchidananda (SIS) for its future contributions to better the hostel/school.
Vida Util is going to focus on the children 6 to 12 years old, and adolescents that are about to finish school.
During July and August aprox 10 of our volunteers will work on several themes as part of our first stage; hygiene, organization, English, art, learning through games.
We asked them to evaluate the children, present situation and priorities for improvement.
A Vida Util’s team will go to Nepal in October to plan future actions, take with us the information gathered by the volunteers and evaluate it.
SIS is sending funds to the ASSHA KO KIRAN project in Daldale, Nepal to help with the following.
- Improve teaching quality, expand the school
- Extend classes for children up to 9 years old
- Build bungalows for underprivileged women
- Support adolescents after finishing school with sponsorships or grants.
- Build a classroom for young adults to learn professional skills, such as sewing, cooking, computer technology, recycle goods; maybe open a bakery to give them their first job, etc.
- Introduce children to yoga and ethic teachings from Swami Satchidananda.
All of these ideas will depend on their viability and agreement with our counterpart in Nepal.
AKIN's Contribution
AKIN is the umbrella organisation for the project. Les Roberts, co-founder of AKIN, is in charge of financial and legal arrangements. Nalanie Chellaram, founder of SIS is one of Sri Swami Satchidananda's beloved disciples, and Les Roberts, co-founder of the Assocation for Kids In Need (AKIN) -- a Gibraltar-based charitable trust -- are leading the project. They are supported by a team of international volunteers and affiliate organizations which includes Vida Util a Spanish-based non-governmental organization that provides education sponsorships and medical resources to people in Nepal who otherwise would not have access to such support & Hari Bhandary, a local Nepalese who has been responsible for bringing medicine, clinics, sanitary systems and schools to nine villages in Nepal. How you can help
Currently, AKIN is raising funds to continue supporting the Aasha Ko Kiran Children's Project
