We are fund raising again for the Regent Primary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone. As many of you know, Toyota Gibraltar is involved in the supply of 4x4 vehicles to the aid and charity market and it is through this work that we came across this particular school during a training course held in Freetown during 2006. We have been supporting the school by sending items in 4x4 vehicles which are destined for aid and charity organisations working in Sierra Leone. We have sent a wide variety of items such as books, pens, pencils, crayons, a TV, a video player, a DVD player, a scanner, a photocopier, sports equipment, kitchen utensils, a microwave, a new computer, a printer, a digital camera and even an electric music keyboard! The items have been delivered successfully on every occasion and I am attaching some photos of the deliveries. We will continue to send useful items to the school whenever possible and now what we are aiming for is to get the school refurbished. The school desperately needs repairs, especially new toilet facilities and extensive repairs to the roof, ceiling, windows and doors. We are looking to obtain vouchers to raffle from retail outlets and restaurants and to receive donations from individuals and organisations alike. Would you like to get involved in this worthy project by way of assisting or by making a donation? Could your company provide us with a voucher perhaps or a small donation? During 2010 we had the invaluable help of two Spanish NGOs which are working in Sierra Leone. The “Medicos del Mundo” Programme Manager (Massimo Salvadori) liaised with the school headmaster, the local Regent community council and with construction companies. We also had the invaluable help of Natxo Garcia, a Spanish Red Cross Water & Sanitation expert who we know through our work contacts he is overseeing our work during 2011. Having their support has allowed us to make the right choices and ensure the best outcome.
